"Production manager; Preventive maintenance manager; Metrological laboratory manager (product certification according to different required product standards); Internal/external calibration of metrological equipment manager; Creator and manager of dynamic statistics applied in monitoring of non-conformities productive and deviation from the stated annual goals; Internal quality audit manager;This thesis aimed to study the Echhornia crassipes’s extractives in order to present a freshly new insight on this invasive species which is considered the fastest growing plant in the world. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the potential of Eichhorina crassipes harvested from Pateira de Fermentelos, Águeda, as a source of phytosterols, namely stigmasterol, by Soxhlet and supercritical fluid extraction. Supercritical extractions were used in this thesis as an alternative to conventional techniques that use organic solvents, allowing the assessment of both extractions in terms of concentration, yield and selectivity for stigmasterol. In both cases chemical evaluation was carried out using different techniques: GCMS, total phenol content and antioxidant activity.
