Biography
José Caldas holds a PhD in bioinformatics and machine learning from Aalto University, as well as BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon). Prior to working at HeartGenetics, José was co-founder and CEO of Insightomics, a bioinformatics software company. We was also a researcher in the KDBIO group at INESC-ID Lisbon. José has participated in multiple projects related to applying state-of-the-art machine learning methodologies to the analysis of large-scale transcriptomics data. He has also participated in oncology and cardiology translational medicine projects, aimed at bringing transcriptional and genetic biomarkers to the clinic. Besides bioinformatics and machine learning, José is also currently interested in information visualization and web technologies.
