Biography
Dr. Kirk Ways, MD, Ph.D serves as Development Head of Cardiovascular and Metabolism at Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Ways has been Vice President and Chief Development Officer of BioStratum Incorporated since March 2004. Dr. Ways joined BioStratum from Aventis Pharmaceuticals where he served in the position of Senior Global Medical Director and Global Project Team Leader. Prior to joining Aventis, Dr. Ways served as a Research Advisor in the Lilly Research Laboratories with responsibility for the preclinical and clinical development of agents to treat the chronic complications of diabetes and served as Director of the Diabetes Center. He served as a Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine at East Carolina University School of Medicine. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Ways has authored more than one hundred publications in the fields of diabetes and cancer.
