Andreas Von Planta

Biography

Andreas von Planta is the member of the Board of Directors of Novartis Oncology, Portugal since 2006. He qualifies as an independent Non-Executive Director and is Chairman of the Governance, Nomination and Corporate Responsibilities Committee. He is also a member of the Risk Committee and the Audit and Compliance Committee. Mr. von Planta is a board member of Helvetia Holding AG in Switzerland, and also serves on the boards of various Swiss subsidiaries of foreign companies and other non-listed Swiss companies, including Burberry (Suisse) SA, Lenz & Staehelin AG, A.P. Moller Finance SA, HSBC Private Bank (Suisse) SA, Socotab Frana SA and Raymond Weil SA. Additionally, he is chairman of the regulatory board of the SIX Swiss Exchange AG. Mr. von Planta holds a doctorate in law from the University of Basel in Switzerland, and a Master of Laws from Columbia Law School in the United States. He passed his bar examinations in Basel in 1982. Since 1983, he has lived in Geneva and worked for the law firm Lenz & Staehelin, where he became a partner in 1988. His areas of specialization include corporate law, corporate governance, corporate finance, company reorganizations, and mergers and acquisitions.
