Biography
CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Petrobras, Pedro Pullen Parente started his career in public service at Banco do Brasil, in 1971, and in 1973 was transferred to the Central Bank, in both cases through public sector recruitment examinations. Parente was a consultant of the International Monetary Fund and of public institutions in Brazil, including Departments of State and of the 1988 National Constituent Assembly, and served in various positions in the Government’s economic area. He was a Minister of State and the coordinator of the transition team of President Fernando Henrique Cardoso’s administration to President Lula’s. In this period, he played an important role as Chairman of the Energy Crisis Management Chamber. Parente had already been a member and chairman of Petrobras’ Board of Directors. He served as the Executive Vice President (COO) of the RBS Group, and as President and CEO of Bunge Brazil. Since March 2015, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors of BM&FBOVESPA.
