Biography
João Paulo Ferreira has a diploma in Chemical Engineering from Porto University (1987) and a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA (1993). He is assistant professor at the Faculty of Biotechnology since 1993 and is currently responsible for several courses, including biochemistry, physics, thermodynamics and biomedical engineering projects. He also coordinates both the BSc and MSc programmes in Biomedical Engineering. Research wise he has developed projects in controlled release technology, production of recombinant antibodies, applied protein chemistry and in energy-related topics. His publications include several scientific and pedagogical papers in biochemistry and thermodynamics. He has also published a textbook on thermodynamics.
