Biography
VIKTOR F. VEKSELBERG Born on April 14, 1957 in the town of Drogobych, Lviv region, Ukraine. In 1990 Viktor Vekselberg founded Renova, an asset management company (initially, the company operated as a Russia-USA joint venture), and took the post of its General Director. Mr. Vekselberg currently holds office as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Renova Group of companies. In 1996 he founded SUAL Group and served as its President until 2003 when he eventually chaired the Board of Directors of the Group. Chairman of the Management Board of OJSC Tumen Oil Company from 2002 until 2003. Member of the Board of Directors of TNK-BP from 2003 until 2013. Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Company Rusal (UC Rusal) from 2007 until March 2012. In March 2010, President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev appointed Viktor Vekselberg as Head of the Skolkovo Innovation Center project. Viktor Vekselberg has been President of the Skolkovo Foundation since June 2010. Viktor Vekselberg is a member of the Management Panel of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) and chairs the Union’s Committee for International Cooperation. Since 2016, he has been a member of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. Since 2014, he has been the Chairman of the Russian part of the Russia-China Chamber for Trade Cooperation on Machinery and Innovative Products. Viktor has a number of international and national awards, including the award “For Social Activity” (for reviving Russian charity traditions) from Woodrow Wilson Center (2007), Order of Honor (1999), Order “For Merits to the Fatherland” 4th class (2010) and 3rd class (2014). Graduated with honors from the faculty of automation and computer engineering of the Moscow Railway Transport Engineering Institute (MIIT) and continued his education with a post-graduate course at the Computing Center of USSR Academy of Sciences.
