Biography
Ana Isabel Vasconcelos, born in Leiria in 1956, has been a lecturer at the Open University since 1989, having previously been a secondary school teacher. In 1978, he completed his degree in German Philology, at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon. He is a Master in Comparative Literary Studies, by the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the New University of Lisbon, with the dissertation Pedro the Cru: the real and the symbolic. In 2000, he obtained his PhD in Portuguese Studies, in the specialty of Portuguese Literature, by Universidade Aberta, with the thesis titled The Portuguese Historical Drama of the 19th Century or Fictions of the Historical Representation in the Time of Almeida Garrett, published in 2003 by FCT / Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. As a researcher, has been especially dedicated to theatrical studies related to the first half of the 19th century, being an effective member of the Center for Theater Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon. He is a member of the Portuguese Association of Theater Critics.
