Biography
José Manuel Lopes was born in Lisbon on January 24, 1951. He lived for twenty years in Toronto, Canada, where he worked in areas related to research in Applied Linguistics in the field of Education. That is where he completed his Doctorate in Comparative Literature in 1993. He is currently Associate Professor at the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies. In addition to two novels, Wrecks and Mists, Forro Alto 1927 (2001) and Fragments of a Conspiracy (2006), is author of a book of Literary Criticism, Foregrounded Description in Prose Fiction: Five Cross-Literary Studies (1995) and a series of academic publications on Comparative Literature and Translation.
