Between 2001 and 2003 he was also assistant of Chemistry-Physics at the University of Évora. He was a postdoc at CQFM, at the Microspectroscopy Center at the University of Wageningen (Netherlands), and at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Miguel Hernández University (Spain). In 2008, he returned to FCUL as a researcher at the Center for Chemistry and Biochemistry (CQB) and created a group of Molecular Biophysics that still leads today. R. Almeida is a co-author of 50 scientific articles and chapters of international books in indexed journals, ca. of 1800 citations in the Web of Science, a textbook and a national patent.
