Biography
BSc in Biology by the University of Porto in 1999; concluded PhD in Molecular Medicine (Neurology)at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2004. Post-doctoral training at the Molecular Medicine Institute and IGC - Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência in Lisbon, Portugal. Assistant Professor at the Biology Department of the University of Minho since 2007. Currently working as Assistant Professor at the Biology Department of the University of Minho since 2007; Member of the Course Comission of the PhD Programme on Molecular and Environmental Biology; Vice-Director of the research centre CBMA-Centro de Biologia Molecular e Ambiental, UM (2013-now), considered to be “Excellent” by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia; coordinator of the research group “Innovation for Life - Functional Genomics and Nanobiotechnology for Sustainable Living” do. Founder of the Spin-off - NANODELIVERY–I&D in Bionanotecnology, Lda (Feb 2011).
