Filipe Coutinho

Biography

 Filipe A. F. Coutinho achieved his M.D. from the University of Beira Interior in 2010. In 2011 he performed his general residency at Centro Hospitalar. In 2012, Coutinho started his residency in Medical Oncology at Centro Hospitalar do Porto. Simultaneously, Coutinho is currently doing his Ph.D. in Medicine and Molecular Oncology at University of Porto. Due to his Ph.D. he has professional connections with Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology of the University of Porto (IPATIMUP) and was involved on project entitled "Molecular mechanisms underlying cancer cell invasion in two cancer disease models, gastric and breast".   

Research Interest

 He has several interests in research in cancer field, with focus in GI, Breast, Skin and Sarcomas. Along his young career, he has been involved in several works and projects, individually or in cooperation. He is an active fellow of several medical oncology associations, such as ASCO, ESMO, EACR and ASPIC. He continues with an academic career, with a straight connection with Health Sciences Faculty of University of Beira Interior where he is an invited assistant on Basic Oncology Course addressed to 5th and 6th grade medical students, as well as an invited lecturer in academic meetings. Along his career in Medical Oncology he self-developed Medical Communication skills, especially on how to deliver bad news. He performed several lectures addressing this subject in medical curricula of University of Beira Interior as has presented a project in World Congress of Psycho-oncology in 2014.
