Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-shaibi

Biography

Mr. Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Shaibi is currently the Executive Vice President – Finance & Planning of Qatar Petroleum. He is responsible for developing and implementing finance strategies and practices in line with International Best Practice. He is one of the main stimulus in transforming Qatar Petroleum (QP) and the State of Qatar into a leading player in the financing world. He led the first QatarGas (Upstream) financing and he either participated or led most of the Financing transactions during the 1990’s. Upon embarkment of the mega size project financing in early 2000, he has developed and completed successfully almost all the Financing needs of QP and major Financing needs of the State of Qatar post 2008 World Financial Crisis in his capacity as Financial Advisory Team lead and State Finance Policy Committee member. Mr. Al-Shaibi serves on the Board of key financial, oil & gas and other companies that are at the heart of the State economy i.e. QatarGas group of companies and Chairman of Qatar Aluminum and Muntajat. He participated in the early stage of North Field Development activities and was a member of all LNG development Steering Committees responsible for the projects development and execution plans which resulted in converting QP from small regional player to a giant international influential player. Additionally, he has also contributed significantly in developing and negotiating various Joint Venture and Development Agreements covering medium and mega size projects such as LNG, GTL and Petrochemical Projects. Mr. Al-Shaibi graduated from the University of Arizona in 1988 with B.Sc. in Finance and Business Administration.
