Biography

Dr. Hodges obtained her Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in Rhetoric and Composition at the University of Arkansas, where she taught first-year writing, workplace writing, and ESL (English as a Second Language). Her most recent position was a postdoctoral associate at MIT with a joint appointment at Singapore University of Technology and Design, where she helped start a writing and communications center. At TAMUQ, Dr. Hodges teaches first-year writing and technical and business writing courses. She also leads the Writing Across the Curriculum initiative and coordinates the undergraduate writing courses.

Research Interest

Additionally, she directs the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) initiative, which supports faculty development of project-based, interdisciplinary learning. Currently, she is working on a project examining writing strategies used by engineers in multinational workplaces and the impact of these findings on WAC/WID programs. Her primary research and teaching interests are multilingual writers, writing across the curriculum and writing in the disciplines (WAC/WID), first-year writing, community literacy.
