Biography

Professor of Cardiology, University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. PhD supervisor (Habilitation title in 2014). Senior cardiologist since 2000 with a particular interest in imaging, teaching and research. Director of Euroecolab, the echocardiography laboratory at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Bucharest, the largest cardiology institution in Romania. The lab was awarded European accreditation in standard transthoracic and stress echocardiography and advanced transoesophageal echocardiography. President of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, EACVI (2016-2018). Vice-president of the Romanian Society of Cardiology (2014-2017). Member of the Committee for Practice Guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology (2008-2012). Publications: More than 130 articles indexed on PubMed More than 100 full-text original articles in journals with impact factor. Hirsch Index by ISI: 23. Citations: over 6000 ISI citations (>10.000 Google Scholar; h-index Google Scholar: 33). Author of 3 books on echocardiography. Co-Editor of the EACVI Textbook on Echocardiography. Winner of >1.000.000 Euro in research grants as Project director. Member of the International Scientific Board of European Heart Journal-Cardiovascular Imaging, Cardiovascular Ultrasound.
