Biography
Dr. R A Mashelkar, former Director-General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has been inducted onto the Thermax Board as an independent Director, effective January 29, 2008. Dr. Mashelkar, with his global exposure to science and technology, will help spearhead innovation within the company. As one of India's foremost scientists, decorated by 26 universities around the world with honorary doctorates, Dr. Mashelkar is known for shaping India's science and technology policies in post-liberalised India, and for transforming CSIR into a user-focused, performance driven organization and in creating a balanced intellectual property regime in India. His crusade for protecting India's traditional knowledge has brought a new awareness around the world about the rights of the developing world.
