Doina Popov

Biography

Doina Popov is a Member of the Romanian Academy (since 2011) and Member of the Romanian Academy for Medical Sciences (since 1993). she is a Expert evaluator/Raporteur of the European Frame Programs and Romanian grants and also a Peer reviewer at national and international journals.

Research Interest

Diabetes mellitus and obesity - associated cardiovascular alterations: experimental models (in vitro and in vivo), advanced glycation end products, systemic and local oxidative stress, structural-functional and molecular correlates of vascular cells dysfunction; Metabolic syndrome related disorders: insulin- and leptin resistance, adipocytes secretory dysfunction, hypertension, hypercoagulability; Endothelial- and platelet-derived microparticles, markers of cellular activation; role of endothelial progenitor cells in endothelial repair.
