Biography
Tim Burton joined the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) as an Assistant Director in 2009, where he is part of the Standards, Quality and Enhancement (SQE) strand of the Research, Development and Partnerships Group. Prior to that Mr Burton was at the University of Hull, graduating with a PhD in law in 1991, and then as a lecturer in law for six years before working in student administration and then the University Quality Office (from 2003). During that time he was an Audit Secretary for QAA and an active member of a number of quality networks including the Quality Strategy Network. At QAA Mr Burton’s main areas of responsibility (with SQE colleagues) are in developing the UK Quality Code for Higher Education, especially the chapters on learning and teaching, complaints and appeals, and assessment and RPL
Research Interest
His research interest includes the Higher Education Academy, including jointly organising events for external examiners
