Biography
The production site in Kaluga was constantly developing: in September 2015, the production of 1.6 MPI EA211 engines was launched in Kaluga with a maximum capacity of 150000 engines per year. In November 2016, a new body shop with total area of 12 000 sq.m was opened at the plant in Kaluga, and the paint and assembly shops were upgraded for the new Volkswagen Tiguan production.
Research Interest
At the moment, the Volkswagen Group Rus production sites offer the advantages of the latest technologies, know-how and unique dual education system, setting a benchmark in the local automotive industry. Total investments into local production in Russia have reached 1.75 billion euros. More than 1,100,000 vehicles were produced in Kaluga since the start of production, and more than 200,000 vehicles were produced in Nizhny Novgorod. The current model range includes the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Volkswagen Polo and the ŠKODA Rapid in Kaluga, and ŠKODA Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta and ŠKODA Yeti in Nizhny Novgorod.
