Biography
Steve Ghanayem is group vice president and general manager of the Transistor and Interconnect Group at Applied Materials, Inc. He is responsible for developing and commercializing innovative products in this high-growth segment to grow the company in the areas of ion implantation, front end, chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), plating packaging and cleans and metal deposition (MDP). Mr. Ghanayem has been instrumental in leading various thin film and thermal product penetrations over his 24 years with the company, including driving gross margin and market share growth in various business segments and overseeing the development and commercialization of key flagship products which have generated enormous returns. From his early days in tungsten chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and sub-atmospheric CVD and later in chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), epitaxy (EPI), front end products, MDP and atomic layer deposition, he has successfully led his teams to innovate and execute on what matters to customers. Mr. Ghanayem earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
