Biography
Graduated from Kharkov State Polytechnical University (Ukraine). Head of business and finance information at Interfax, the first independent news agency in the Soviet Union and a pioneer in impartial and reliable reporting on the USSR. Graduated from Moscow State University's School of Journalism. Completed a Reuters business journalism course in 1992. Worked in Foreign Broadcasting before joining Interfax in 1991, where he created the news agency's first business and finance products. Interfax Financial and Business Information Service includes real-time news services and market data systems, corporate and text data bases, disclosure services. Vladimir Gerasimov also oversees several Interfax international projects: Moody's Interfax Rating Agency, Interfax-D&B, Experian Interfax Credit Bureau. Chairman of the Russian Financial Communications and Investor Relations Association (ARFI). Chief National News Editor at the Information Department of Moscow Radio – the Soviet State Radio Corporation that broadcasted in foreign languages for an international audience. September, 1989 founded Interfax independent news agency. August 1997 - appointed Deputy Head of President Yeltsin’s Administration, and December 1998 returned to his position of General Director at Interfax. In 1998 was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors and appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Interfax Group.
