Wade Barnes

Biography

 Wade is the Founder and President of Farmers Edge – the largest agronomy and farm services consulting firm in Western Canada. With 70 agronomists and operations specialists on staff Farmers Edge provides a comprehensive, hands-on approach to risk management and maximizing yields across over four million acres under management. Wade grew up in a small rural farming town in Manitoba, Canada where during his education as an agronomist he developed a strong interest in bridging the gap between technology and agronomy. It became the driving force behind starting Farmers Edge and under his leadership the company developed an agronomic management system that brings precision agronomy, geo-referenced field mapping and variable rate production to farms of all sizes. Wade has the title of Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) of the Year and Farmers Edge was awarded Manitoba’s Fastest Growing Company in 2010. He is recognized nationally and globally as an expert on the impact of technology on agribusiness and has spoken to growers, investors and industries at the Master Seeders, Global AgInvesting, and TedX conferences. Wade enjoys spending time with his three young children and wife in rural Manitoba.
