Biography
N. A. Bokhan has made an essential contribution to formation of new scientific sections of specialty - transcultural and penal addictology, directed at resolution of socially significant problems of depopulation of aboriginal ethnoses and rehabilitation of socially disadapted patients with addictive states. N. A. Bokhan's main scientific achievements are connected with study of the interdisciplinary problem of comorbidity in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry, research of fundamental aspects of clinical heterogeneity of addictive states and mechanisms of their formation. Research team under the direction of N. A. Bokhan in the investigations supported by grants of INTAS, RFBR and RHS, has obtained new knowledge of molecular mechanisms of toxic effects of ethanol and its metabolites on cellular membranes, apoptosis of immunocompetent cells in chronic alcohol intoxication; efficiency of natural dipeptide carnosine in correction of oxidative stress in alcoholism. N. A. Bokhan possesses a priority in development of new non-drug strategy in narcology on the basis of biophysical factors: the method of microwave resonant therapy of alcoholism has been proposed, immunorehabilitation strategies in addiction psychiatry narcology have been defined. Principles and stages of systemic prevention of early and associated forms of alcoholism, including for general medical care, have been based. The test-system of assessment of predisposition to formation of primary craving for psychoactive substances in adolescents has been developed.
