Askerkhanov Rashid

Biography

In 2001, he graduated with honors from the Medical Faculty of Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy. After graduation from the Academy he entered the residency in surgery. While working and studying he took an additional advanced course and further training in laparoscopic surgery, cosmetology and bariatrics. After the successful completion of residency he took a postgraduate course in surgery at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical Academy under the guidance of professor V.P. Glabay, and 2 years later he defended his candidate thesis «Rare Complications of Gallstone Disease» at A.V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery. Dr. Askerkhanov worked as a surgeon for emergency surgical care in a Moscow hospital.  He took an internship in Bariatric Surgery at Сleveland Сliniс Florida, USA, in 2004. In 2014, he took an additional advanced training in Fresno, California, the United States, under the guidance of Dr. Kelvin Higa, President of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of surgery at the Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, under the guidance of Professor I.E. Hatkov, a pioneer and leader of modern surgery. Dr. Askerhanov is also Head of Bariatric Surgery course at the Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry. Author of numerous articles in major peer-reviewed journals. A regular participant, lecturer and speaker at national and international symposia and conferences on bariatric surgery. Member of IFSO (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders) and EAES (European Association of Endoscopic Surgery).
