Biography
Kathleen has over 15 years of experience in veterinary pathology, to include residency, and over 20 years experience as a veterinarian. She began her career in veterinary medicine in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps after receiving her DVM degree from Auburn University. She had several assignments in the Army before beginning the veterinary pathology residency at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP). She attained Diplomate status in veterinary anatomic pathology from ACVP in 2005. Following board certification, she served as Chief of the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory and then moved up to Chief of the Department of Diagnostic Pathology at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. At Charles River, Kathleen is a study pathologist with experience and expertise in toxicologic pathology, ultrastructural pathology, and immunopathology. She is currently Editor of the Society of Toxicologic Pathology’s (STP) Scope newsletter (https://www.toxpath.org/index.asp; members only access) and a member of the Environmental Toxicologic Pathology Special Interest Group with the STP. She is a published author in multiple journals, invited speaker at various national level meetings, and an avid reader of historical fiction and biographies.
