Timur Kulibaev

Biography

Timur Kulibaev was born in Alma-Ata on September 10, 1966. Education Timur Kulibaev graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University, majoring in National Economic Planning. He holds a PhD in Economics. He also has a number of scientific papers and inventions to his name. Professional experience 1988–1990 Employed at the Research Institute of Economic Planning and Standards under the State Planning Committee of the Kazakh SSR. 1990–1992 Director of the Research and Consultation Center under the Foundation for Cultural, Social and Scientific & Technical Development of Kazakhstan. 1992–1995 Head of the Altyn-Alma concern. 1995–1997 Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Member of the Credit Committee at ATF Bank. 1997 Head of the Directorate for Project Assessment and Negotiations under the State Committee for Investments of the Republic of Kazakhstan (as Deputy Chairman). 1997–1999 Vice President for Finance and Economics of Kazakhoil National Oil and Gas Company. 1999–2001 President of KazTransOil National Oil Transportation Company. 2001–2002 Director General of Oil and Gas Transportation National Company established on the basis of KazTransOil and KazTransGas. 2002–2005 First Vice President of KazMunayGas National Company created with the merger of the Kazakhoil and Oil and Gas Transportation national companies. 2005–2013 Part-time Adviser to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. 2006–2007 Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk Kazakh Holding for State Assets Management. 2008–2011 Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund. 2011 Chairman of the Management Board, Member of the Board of Directors at Samruk-Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund. 2011–2014 Chairman of the Presidium of the National Economic Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Atameken Union). From November 2005 Chairman of the Kazakhstan Association of Oil, Gas and Energy Sector Organizations (KAZENERGY). From September 2013 Chairman of the Presidium of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Atameken). Since 2011 – Member of the Gazprom Board of Directors.
