Biography
Dr. Alvis Brazma is a Senior Scientist at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and is responsible for gene expression resources at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). He studied mathematics at the University of Latvia, obtained his PhD from Moscow State University and joined EMBL in 1997. He has over a hundred scientific publications and is a Principal Investigator on several large collaborative genomics and biomedical projects, including the European renal cancer project of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC). He is co-leading the working group on data integration for the Pan-cancer Whole Genome project of the ICGC.
