Biography
Kuzin is expertize in Neuroblasts are neural stem cells that give rise to neurons during an organism development. All together neurons, along with glia, form and establish the complete nervous system of an organism. Each neuron plays a unique functional role in an organism. I am interested in decoding the basis for the specific gene expression, both in neuroblasts and neurons, that generates specific neural function. Enhancers are the non-coding DNA sequences that drive expression in specific cells, tissues and temporal windows during development. The information required for the specificity of neural cell determination and function encoded into enhancers. Currently, our understanding of this code is quite primitive. Decoding enhancers will open new horizons in medicine and biology. Looking into the future, I believe we will be able to make designer enhancers that will fulfil different needs in treating neurological disorders and other health problems by gene therapy.
