Decorated with Russian and international orders and medals. 1993—1998 — First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. 1998—2004 — Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. 2004—​2007 — Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. Since 2005 —​ Professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 2005 — Professor at the Chair of Global Political Processes of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.​ Since 2011 — President of the Non-Profit Partnership “Russian International Affairs Council”. Member of the Management Council at Rissa Investments N.V.​ Since 2013 — Member of the Management Council at Rissa Investments N.V.​ Since 2014 — Member of the International Advisory Council at Universal Credit Rating Group Co., Limited.
