Biography
Olshansky Alexandrov Y. was born on January 19, 1946 in the town of Sapatov. He graduated from the Mechanics and Mathematics Department of Moscow State University (1968). Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1979). Proffessor of the Department of the Higher Algebra of Mechanics and Mathematics Department of Moscow State University (1985). Professor at the University of Vanderbilt (USA) (1999). Member of the editorial boards of several mathematical journals. Laureate of the Prize of the Moscow Mathematical Society (1970) and the Prize. Maltsev RAS (2000).
Research Interest
group theory. A.Yu.Olshansky solved the problems that had been in place for dozens of years and related to the names of B.Neyman, A.Tarsky, G. von Neumann, and others.
