Biography
He graduated from the Russian department of the Philological Faculty of Moscow State University in 1972 (the scientific head of the thesis - N. Tolstoy). Candidate dissertation "Eastern Slavic ritual cattle breeding vocabulary and phraseology in the ethnolinguistic aspect" (supervisor - N. I. Tolstoy) was defended in Moscow State University in 1983 (official opponents VM Mokienko and TM Sudnik). The doctoral thesis "Lexical statistical modeling of the slavonic language affinity system" is protected in the Institute of the Russian Language of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1992 (official opponents of Academician RI NI Tolstoy, Corresponding Member of RAS O. N. Trubachev, V.Z. Sannikov).
Research Interest
Russian and Slavic linguistics, the connection of language and culture. Works on Russian lexicology and lexicography, nomination theory, typology of speech varieties, linguistic statistics, linguogeography, East Slavic dialectal vocabulary, phraseology, Russian and Slavic onomastics, praslawian lexicology, etymology, dialectal division of the prasla-vyansky language, ethnolinguistics, folklore, Slavic ethnography, mythology, poetics, musical paleography, etc.
