Biography

"Pyotr Maksimov heads the RUSAL Directorate of Legal Affairs from July 2012. Prior to joining RUSAL, he held the position of Deputy General Director for Legal and Corporate Issues of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group. From 2005 to 2009 was Director of Corporate Assets and headed the legal department of the investment group EastOne (Interpipe). He was also a member of the Boards of Directors of TNK-BP Ukraine and EastOne Group UK. In 2004 - 2005 he headed the legal department of the investment company COACLO AG and was a member of the Board of Directors of OJSC Mikhailovsky GOK. From 1995 to 2004 Petr Maksimov worked in several leading international law firms: Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, Coudert Brothers, Debevoise & Plimpton and Squire, Sanders & Dempsey. In 2001, Mr. Maksimov P. received a Master of Law (LL.M degree) from the School of Law of Columbia University (New York, USA). In 1999 he graduated with honors from Moscow State University with a degree in law. In 1994 he graduated with honors from the Moscow Machine Tool College in engineering.  

Research Interest

Peter Maksimov is a specialist in the field of mergers and acquisitions, international investment transactions, and corporate governance. Under his leadership, a number of major assets were acquired and disposed of in Russia and beyond. His work on corporate law issues was published in a number of international legal publications.
