Biography
RONA A. FAIRHEAD served from 2014 to April 2017 as Chairman of the BBC Trust, the former governing body of the British Broadcasting Corporation, a U.K.-based international public service broadcaster. From 2006 to 2013, she served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Times Group Limited, which was a division of Pearson plc, and, prior to that, she served as Pearson’s Chief Financial Officer. Pearson is an international media and education company, and the Financial Times Group provides financial news, data, commentary and analysis to the international business community. Prior to joining Pearson, Mrs. Fairhead held a variety of leadership positions at Bombardier Inc. and Imperial Chemical Industries plc. Until 2014, she was a member of the United Kingdom Government’s Cabinet Office, where she chaired the Cabinet Office Audit and Risk Committees. Ms. Fairhead was a non-executive director of HSBC Holdings plc from 2004 to 2016, and until 2015, also chaired the board of HSBC North American Holdings, Inc., the holding company for HSBC Holdings plc’s operations in the U.S. She also served on the board of Pearson until 2013.
