Biography
Diploma in Agronomy at the Russian State Agricultural University – MSKHA, with a specialization in Plant Protection/Plant Pathology (1987). Technician at the All-Union Research Institute of Phytopathology (Dept. Fungal diseases of cereals), PhD student in the Russian Institute of Vegetables Breeding 1989-92, degree in Plant Breeding and Plant Protection (1992). The first fellowship position (1994-95) at the Horticulture Research International – Wellesbourne (HRI-Warwick University, UK), at Dr. John D. Taylor’s group. 1997-98 - JSTA Fellow at National Institute of Vegetable, Ornamental Plants and Tea, Japan in Department of Prof. H. Yoshikawa. Since 10.1998 till 12.2015 - Senior Researcher, Lead Researcher, Head of Group, Head of Laboratory at the Center “Bioengineering” (Federal Research Center of Biotechnology since 2015) of Russian Academy of Sciences (genetic flow from GM plants to wild and weedy cereals, brassicas, and soybeans). Main results of the work are in fields of plant/pathogen diversity, plant pathogenic bacteria and plant virus epidemiology and detection. Since 2001, participant of ISTC Project 1771p (2001-5) devoted to collection and study of plant pathogenic bacteria in Russia. Post-doc fellowship (2004-5) at Nebraska University, working at the Foreign Diseases and Weeds Science Research Unit (ARS, USDA), Fort Detrick, MD, in Laboratory of Dr. Norman W. Schaad. From 2006 till 2013 - manager of ISTC project #3431, continuing the study of plant pathogenic bacteria and plant diseases At 2001-2016 - participant of 15 other projects supported by ISTC, USDA, DTRA (DOD, USA), and Russian Scientific Funds. Over 150 research articles. Chair of Botany, Plant Physiology and biotechnology Dept. at Rus. People's Friendship Univ. 2013-15, and Head of Lab. at Rus. Institute of Phytopathology (2009-2015). Since Dec 2015 - Research Director in private R&D company.
