Alexander Torbakhov

Biography

Alexander Y. Torbakhov was born on August 22, 1971, in Moscow. In 1994, he graduated from Sergo Ordzhonikidze Moscow Aviation Institute with a specialization in Gyroscopic Instruments and Systems of Orientation, Navigation, and Stabilization. In 1997, he graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) with a specialization in International Economic Relations. In 2005, he completed the MBA program at the University of Chicago (USA). He started his career in 2005 as an expert in the Banking Services Department of the Moscow division of the international audit company Deloitte & Touche. In 1997-1998, he was Head of the Risks Management Department at Rinako Plus Investments Company. In 1998-2005, he was the Financial Director and First Vice-President for Retail Business at NIKoil Group. In 2005-2008, he was the Head of the Life Insurance Unit and Vice-President of Rosgosstrakh Holding Company LLC. In 2008-2009, he was CEO of Rosgosstrakh-Zhizn Insurance Company. In 2009-2010, he was CEO of Vimpel Communications OJSC. Since September 2010, he has been an Adviser of the President of Sberbank of Russia. Since October 2010, he has been a Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank. Supervises the work of the Retail Business Unit.
