Biography
Born on November 4, 1966, in Chelyabinsk. Alexander Kalinin graduated with honors from the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute in 1989 as an electrical engineer majoring in Robotics. From 1989 to 1991, he attended full-time postgraduate studies at the Engineering Economics of the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute. In 1991, he founded a company engaged in the wholesale and retail business and export-import operations. He has a working proficiency in English. In 1995–1998, he studied at the Distance Learning Department of the Ural Academy of Public Civil Service, majoring in Law. In 1998, he invested in a small business designing and producing motor control systems and coauthored a utility patent. In 2002, he became a cofounder of OPORA RUSSIA All-Russian Public Organization of Small and Medium Business. From 2002 to 2005, he chaired the Entrepreneurship Promotion Committee of the South Urals Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 2005, he was elected as the Chairman of the Board of the Chelyabinsk Regional Branch of OPORA RUSSIA. In 2007, he was elected to the Management Board of OPORA RUSSIA All-Russian Public Organization of Small and Medium Business. In 2011, he was reelected as the Chairman of the Board of the Chelyabinsk Regional Branch of OPORA RUSSIA. In 2012, he was elected as the First Vice President for Energy, Infrastructure and Cluster Policy of OPORA RUSSIA. In 2013, he was elected as the Co-chairman of the Headquarters of the Chelyabinsk Regional Branch of the People’s Front for Russia.
