Biography

José María Hernández-Sampelayo was appointed Senior Vice President for Human Resources in July 2017. He joined the SGS Human Resources team in Spain in 1996, and was soon promoted to Human Resources Director for Spain in 1997. He assumed the position of Deputy Managing Director for Spain six years later. From 2002 to 2010 he also acted as Regional HR Manager for the Western Europe Region, before being appointed Managing Director of SGS Spain. Before joining SGS, José María worked for El Corte Inglés S.A., where he started as an HR trainee in 1987, before assuming HR management roles between 1989 and 1996. José María holds a Degree in Law from the University of Alcalá de Henares in Spain and a Master’s Degree in General Management from the I.E.S.E. University of Navarra in Spain.
