Biography
Anton Trofimov earned his Master’s degree with honors in Applied Physics from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in 2013, with focus in strength and plasticity of materials. Dr. Trofimov received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University in May 2017. He was working as a research assistant at NMSU on several projects that cover investigation of influence of irregularly shaped internal defects on mechanical and thermal properties of solid materials, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) thermo-mechanical modeling of 3D woven composites during manufacturing process and simulation of collagen fibers in a connective tissue. Anton Trofimov’s research interests include multiscale modeling of porous and composite structures, material characterization and experimental validation of numerical results. In addition to his research abilities, he gained strong teaching experience from giving undergraduate and graduate classes, and keep working towards teaching excellence. Dr. Trofimov has joined CDMM group at Skoltech as a Research Scientist in June 2017 and will be working in the area of mechanics of composites supporting his analytical and numerical models with experiments.
