Dr. Barthold Piening

Biography

Dr. Barthold Piening served as the Chief Operations Officer and Member of Group Management at Acino International AG since August 18, 2014 until February 22, 2017. Mr. Piening served as an Executive Vice President of Operations of Nycomed SICAR S.C.A (alternate name is Nycomed Pharma AS) and Nycomed International Management GmbH. He served as Executive Vice President of Operations at Takeda Pharmaceuticals International GmbH. Mr. Piening served as Corporate Vice President of Operations of ALTANA Pharma AG since 2003. He has 18 years of experience in manufacturing and supply chain operations. From 2011 to 2014, Mr. Piening served as Head of Global Operations, Takeda Pharmaceuticals International, Zurich. From 2010 to 2011, Mr. Piening served as Executive Vice President of Operations, Nycomed International GmbH, Zurich. From 1992 to 2010, Mr. Piening several senior positions with Byk Gulden / ALTANA Pharma / Nycomed in Constance, Germany: Executive Vice President Operations & General Manager Nycomed GmbH Germany since 2007; Senior Director of Global Supply Chain Management since 2001; Head of Strategic Sourcing since 1999; and Head of Department Central Manufacturing since 1992. From 1988 to 1992, he served as Head of Department, production of liquid and semi solid dosage forms at Chemische Fabrik Promonta, Hamburg, Germany. He serves as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Acino AG. He is a qualified pharmacist with a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Kiel. Mr. Piening has an MBA from WHU Koblenz, Germany and the Northwestern University in Chicago.
