Biography
Oleg Deripaska took over as RUSAL's president in November 2014. He is responsible for the strategic development of the company. Since January 2009, he was the general director of RUSAL and was responsible for the formation and implementation of the company's development strategy. In 1997, Oleg Deripaska, who was the general director of the Sayanogorsk Aluminum Smelter, initiated the creation of the first in the post-Soviet space vertically integrated industrial company - the Siberian Aluminum Group (renamed Basic Element in 2001), which later merged a number of leading Russian aluminum enterprises industry. In 2000, "Siberian Aluminum" became one of the world's top ten aluminum producers. From 2000 to 2003, Oleg Deripaska was the General Director of RUSAL, which combined the aluminum and alumina assets of the companies "Siberian Aluminum" and "Sibneft". In 2007, as a result of the merger of aluminum and alumina enterprises of RUSAL and SUAL with the alumina assets of the Swiss Glencore, United Company RUSAL was established, which became the world aluminum industry leader. In 2009, one of the most difficult for RUSAL in connection with the global economic crisis, Oleg Deripaska again headed the company.
