Biography
Benzi joined Teva when he was just 17 years old, working for several months as an operator at the Assia site. He joined Teva again in 1993 after completing a Ph.D in organic chemistry at Tel Aviv University. "When I joined Teva,” he recalls, “there were about 40 researchers in R&D. Today there are about 200. I can really say that I grew up with TAPI R&D." Benzi's initial role was as a chemical researcher at Plantex R&D. He followed this as a senior partner in the development of Teva’s flagship product, Copaxone. In 1994 he became troubleshooting manager, taking on responsibility for all Israeli manufactured products at the Plantex, Abic and Assia sites. In 2003, Benzi became head of chemical R&D. Today, he serves as the head of all TAPI Israel’s R&D activities.
