Biography
I hold a PhD. Degree in Chemistry from the University of Nairobi, where I am a Lecturer of Chemistry. My PhD thesis was on “Pesticides and Phosphorus Dynamics in Lake Victoria Basin” aimed at establishing the fate and transport of pesticides and phosphorus in the Lake Victoria drainage Basin and its net effect on the Lake water quality. To date I have published 11 peer reviewed papers, two book chapters and two papers in peer reviewed proceedings. I have drafted 17 key reports and made 23 conference presentations. I teach over seven units at University, supervised 6 MSc. and 35 undergraduate students to graduation. Currently I have 6 ongoing PhD and 17 MSc. students at different levels of research. My professional consultancy contributions to the University through MOUs and income generating activities amount over 10 million Kenya Shillings from 2013 to 2017. I am a member four key Departmental Committees. As part of community outreach I chair the Technical Committee on Pesticides and the Kenya Bureau of standards, I am a members of the Chemical Steering Committee under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, and I am also the regional coordinator for the Implementation of The Global Monitoring Plan in Africa under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants coordinated by UNEP.
