Biography
Kovalchuk Mikhail Valentinovich - President of the Research Center "Kurchatov Institute". He graduated from the Physics Department of Leningrad State University, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member. RAS. MVKovalchuk is a leading scientist in the field of X-ray physics, crystallography and nanodiagnostics, one of the ideologists and organizers of the development of nanotechnologies in the Russian Federation as the basis for a new environmentally friendly technological order. Under the guidance of M.V. Kovalchuk, the Kurchatov Center of Convergent Nano-, Bio-, Information, Cognitive and Social and Human Sciences Sciences and Technologies (NBICS-Center), which has no world analogues, was created as a tool for the formation of a nature-like technosphere. In this center, on the basis of large research installations (mega-science), research and development is being carried out in various fields: from nuclear physics and nuclear power engineering to nanotechnology and high-tech medicine. M.V. Kovalchuk is the head of the interdepartmental working group on the direction "Interdisciplinary Studies" of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education. MVKovalchuk is the dean of the Faculty of Physics of St. Petersburg State University and the scientific director of the only faculty of convergent sciences and technologies, created on his initiative at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Member of the International Steering Committee of the European Scientific Project of the X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL). Laureate of the prizes of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology and in the field of education; Commander of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV and III degrees.
