Biography

Saran Kebet-Koulibaly is IFC’s Vice President of Portfolio Management. In this capacity, she plays a leading role in the management of IFC's $50 billion portfolio. Prior to that, as Vice President for Corporate Risk and Sustainability and Chief Risk Officer, Ms. Kebet-Koulibaly focused on transactional credit judgments, portfolio risk oversight, enterprise-level risk management, and distressed asset portfolio. A national of Cote d’Ivoire, Ms. Kebet-Koulibaly was previously Director for West and Central Africa, based in Dakar, Senegal, where she contributed to the development of IFC operations in the region. She coordinated IFC’s corporate response to the Ebola crisis. Prior to that, she was the Director of Special Operations between 2010 and 2013, with responsibility for managing a $3.8 billion portfolio of troubled and distressed investments. Ms. Kebet-Koulibaly joined the World Bank as a Young Professional, then moved to IFC’s Africa Department in 1993. She joined the Chemicals, Petrochemicals, and Fertilizers Department in 1996, before taking an external assignment with the Asia Opportunity Fund, a private equity fund in Hong Kong. At the Asia Opportunity Fund, she was involved in buy-out and work out transactions in a range of sectors across East Asia. Ms. Kebet-Koulibaly returned to IFC as Regional Hub Manager for West and Central Africa in late 2000. In this positon, she contributed to the successful reorganization and refocusing of the department, away from small direct investments and into a broader IFC strategy for Africa. In 2004, she became IFC Country Manager for Brazil, where she contributed to building one of the corporation’s largest and most innovative country programs. In 2006, Ms. Kebet-Koulibaly became Senior Manager in the Global Manufacturing and Services Department, with responsibility for managing global clients, and leading the Forest Products and Tourism, Retail, and Property sectors. Prior to joining IFC, Kebet-Koulibaly worked for Arthur Andersen and Co. in West Africa. Ms. Kebet-Koulibaly holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of California and is a CFA Charter holder.
