Biography
"Sumit Bhandari is a Director in the Credit Team at Abraaj. Prior to joining The Abraaj Group, Mr. Bhandari was a Director in BlackRock’s Asia Pacific Active Investment Group in Singapore. He was a portfolio manager for Asian credit benchmarked strategies and in parallel, was on the Asian Financial Institutions portfolio team. Prior to joining BlackRock, Mr. Bhandari served in a number of roles at Lehman Brothers in New York. In his last role, he was responsible for managing Lehman’s legacy mezzanine debt and private equity portfolio. Previously, he worked in Lehman’s largest proprietary investment group focusing on special credit situations and risk arbitrage. Mr. Bhandari started his career in the M&A department of Lehman Brothers’ Investment Banking division focusing on the US industrial sector. Mr. Bhandari holds a Bachelors of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay and Masters of Science from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor."
