Peter Kvietys

Biography

Peter R. Kvietys received his PhD from Michigan State University in 1979. Kvietys held faculty positions in the United States at the University of South Alabama (Mobile) and LSUHSC-Shreveport. Subsequently, he headed the program in vascular biology at the Lawson Research Institute in London, Ontario, Canada. He is currently a professor of physiology at the College of Medicine at Alfaisal University with an adjunct appointment at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Kvietys has served on the Editorial boards of the American Journal of Physiology (associate editor), Microcirculation, Pathophysiology, Journal of Critical Care Medicine, and the Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Nutrition. His major research focus is on the role of the vasculature, particularly the endothelium, in the inflammatory response. He has received peer-reviewed funding from national agencies; current funding is generously provided by KACST. He lists over 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals, more than 30 book chapters, and 5 books (authored or edited).
