Biography

"Mohammed Safwan Ali Khan is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Pharmacology, College of Pharmacy, Al-Jouf University. He was born on 1st November 1985 in Hyderabad - India. After secondary schooling and intermediate education in Biology, he received Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2006 and M.Pharm - Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2008 from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University - Hyderabad. Soon after completing postgraduation, he started his professional career as a Lecturer at Anwarul Uloom College of Pharmacy in September 2008. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor and Vice-Principal in July 2012. He did PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology at Department of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University Putra Malaysia (2015). Under the supervision of a globally renowned biomedical scientist Prof. Dr. Abdul Manan Mat Jais (PhD in Neurophysiology & Pharmacology from Southampton, UK - 1983), Mohammed Safwan Ali Khan carried out doctoral research with thesis title ""Gastroprotective activity of selected Indian herbs and Channa striata Bloch. against stress and drug - induced ulcers"". He was promoted to the post of Associate Professor and Head - Department of Pharmacology in July 2015 at Anwarul Uloom College of Pharmacy. He taught Chemistry of Natural Drugs, Medicinal Chemistry - II, Pharmacognosy (I - III), and Environmental Sciences to the undergraduates (B. Pharm Program). He dealt with Advanced Pharmacology - I & II, Advanced Research Methods, Advanced Screening Methods & Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacotherapeutics, Nutraceuticals & Herbal Cosmetic Technology for M.Pharm - Pharmacology program. He has supervised more than 10 undergraduate and postgraduate projects. Gastrointestinal Pharmacology, Pre-clinical Toxicology, In-vivo Evaluation of Herbal Drugs / Validation of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicines, understanding the mechanism of action, and Marine Drugs are his areas of interest. During the course of doctoral and academic research, he published over 15 research papers. Some covered by JCR-SCI (ISI), PubMed and Scopus. The published works have more than 90 citations and cumulative impact score above 6. Besides poster presentations in the national conferences such as IPC and APTICON, he delivered oral lectures at international conferences like International Conference on Natural Products - 2010 (held in Penang, Malaysia), International Conference on Natural Products & Biomedical Technology - 2011 (held in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu) and Second Malaysia - Thailand Graduate Forum - 2013 (held at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM, Selangor, Malaysia). He is a member of many professional associations and societies like Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India, Haruan Research Group, Malaysian Natural Products Society and Malaysian Society for Physiology and Pharmacology. In addition to this, he is a reviewer for various leading research journals of Taylor & Francis, MDPI, Hindawi Publishing Corporation, Elsevier, African Academic Journals, Science Domain International and few university journals. One of his recent works was awarded bronze medal at International Conference on Innovations in Pharmaceutical Sciences - 2016 organized by GNIT (JNTU-H) and sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India."
