Biography
Professor Alwathnani received his Ph.D. in Accounting with a minor in Finance from the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, 2006. His Ph.D. dissertation entitled "Do investors overreact to patterns of firms' past financial performance measures?" He holds a Master degree in Accounting with banking and finance concentration from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University of Cleveland, OH, 1998. Before joining Alfaisal University, Professor Alwathnani was a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting at York University, Toronto, Canada. He had served on York faculty for eight years. Professor Alwathnani has both teaching and research interest in financial accounting and capital markets. His research draws on the cognitive psychology literature to study factors that affect investors' decision-making mechanism and how investors' psychology influences the market price discovery process. A well, his research interests includes financial reporting and corporate governance. His work has been published in high quality peer-reviewed journals such the British Accounting Review and the Journal of Behavioural Finance & Economics.
