Biography

Dr. Rajab obtained his graduate degrees in quantitative genetics and statistics from Texas A&M University followed by post-doctoral studies at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, Maryland, and Tufts University, School of Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts. He became interested in public health and obtained an Honor's Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) at Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health. Dr Rajab joined the faculty of Texas A&M College of Medicine where he became an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the College of Medicine and Adjunct Associate Professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at The Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health, and the Director of the two Departments: Biostatistics and Outcomes and Effectiveness Research at Scott and White Healthcare and the Texas A&M Health Sciences Center, respectively. He was one of the founding faculty of the Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health, the only school of rural public health in the United States. In addition, Dr. Rajab served as the Vice Chair of the Faculty Committee at the Texas A&M College of Medicine. He also served on the Board of the American Health Maintenance Organization Research Network (HMORN), one of the largest medical research networks in the U.S. and on other international organizations including the International Society for Medical Simulation. He joined Alfaisal University in February of 2009. He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology and the director of the Public Health Program at the College of Medicine. A primary research interest of Dr Rajab is in behavioral science (mind-body interrelationships), mainly relaxation techniques and suicidal behavior. Dr. Rajab and his team have published a book on the latter topic. Another major area of research interest is outcomes and effectiveness research, where Dr. Rajab and his team have published a new paradigm in effectiveness research. Other areas of interest include simulation in health education and public health. Dr. Rajab has received the National Hospital Pharmacy Quality Award and the Delta Omega Award for his work in Rural Public Health.
