Biography

Dr Santosh Kumar is a lecturer in Pathology at the College of Medicine. He obtained his medical education from Aga Khan University, Pakistan. His research work focused on electrophysiological properties of the heart (at Aga Khan University) and dysregulation of adipogenic differentiation in obesity (at University of Cincinnati, USA). At Alfaisal University, he is involved in teaching, research and university service. He has represented Alfaisal University and presented his work in international medical education conferences. He has been pathology course director for cardiovascular block, co-director for reproductive block of phase-2. He is heavily involved in problem-based learning (session facilitation, co-ordination, and case writing and review). He has also been a member and coordinator of exam review process.

Research Interest

Cardiovascular Biology: Non- invasive determination of electrophysiological functions of the heart, Non- invasive automated measurement of blood pressure, Molecular biology of adipose tissue dysregulation in obesity leading to metabolic derangements, including increased cardiovascular risk and insulin resistance. Broad aspects of human development, including early child development.
